Marty, maybe the smallmouth move in the bay during the Spring to spawn.

You mentioned it's a tributary bay to Lake Ontario. Do any smallmouth move into that bay during the year?

Yes, they do. I've only been there twice this year and haven't seen any though, although we typically fish largemouth habitat.

A skunk walked thru the back yard last week and I thought it was the one you pictured and that fishing would be on the rise for you.

Sorry to hear about the two lost big fish. We know that's all part of the game. Sometimes you land them, and sometimes you don't. On a side note, that fish Jeff is holding looks extremely healthy. I'm sure that's a pretty good fishery. You mentioned it's a tributary bay to Lake Ontario. Do any smallmouth move into that bay during the year?

Sodus is a tributary bay to Lake Ontario. This was the last trip of the year in Jeff's bass boat, but we might get out again in his john boat. We fished just a little over two hours. His trolling motor is not powerful enough to handle the wind and weeds in combination. Jeff caught three bass, probably in the 14-16" range. He also had two solid strikes and lost a pike which he thinks might be the biggest he ever hooked.
