That has to be the strangest catch I've heard about. But it's good to hear that the fish attached to the end of your line was considerably larger.

Not a whole lot. It's still filthy, but probably has less chemicals in it. There were lots of guys perch fishing out on the flats around the mouth of the river. I believe the perch come in shallow this time of year. I've never went perch fishing here, but have to try it someday. The rod I caught with the bass attached to it was a perching rod. It had a spreader with yellow blades attached.
