I have a letter from Ithaca that says only that this was the first model of a hammerless shotgun with steel forged barrels, and that it was on display at the St. Louis worlds fair in I think 1902. The story passed on thru the family was that my great grand dad got it by redeeming Consolidated chewing tobacco coupons. I have looked in every antique store that i go to for a tin of consolidated. Apparently it came in a round tin and could be either smoked or chewed. WOW, must have been some rough stuff. I have a fairly good collection of military arms and other stuff from the second world war. Beth and I dont hunt anymore so I kinda stopped buying shotguns...You are gonna love that double, it looks sweet....Jim
