The Erie smallies will be in big schools, as we get into March head to the east side of Kelly's Island with some bladebaits of your choice, in the 3/8 to 3/4 oz size.
If your not familiar with the area, look at a map and find the big point near the airport runway, it's a good place to start.
Start in 18 ft of water and work your way out to 40+ ft. if you have to.
Vertical jig the bait, try different size hops off the bottom, you may go along time without a bite,
but when you find them, you hit the jackpot!
The walleye will be in the same area and hit the same lures.
A Hopkins spoon or a 5" green Klein twister will work sometimes also.
Good Luck!
