Nice information report.

Did they turn on immediately or had you been on the water for a time?

Jack,

On the water for quite a while. I had already fished the area once where the thump came from. But things add up in a area like that. Ledge with deeper water near by which in this case is the channel. A big plus fishing hot water I have found.

I credit a few things to this turn on of fish but who really knows for sure. As mentioned there were lighting storms around the lake and I think a distinct pressure drop occurred around 4p.m. So much so that I felt the change. The humidity was down right absurd at that time. Another thing, a half moon that I believe set in the evening. Little lake pressure because some of the spring joy boaters have their boats parked again and the hard core guys are the only ones that are out there in these conditions. And I'm serious about the Catfish spawn. Once it is over, things seem to pick up. One more item. A shad spawn might be brewing, which they will spawn a few times a year, I understand.

If I'm swapping out lures just to see if I can get bit then there must be some confidence in the bite.

I am glad to have the hard core fisherman still at the ramp that gave me a battery jump with lighting cracking all around us. You do meet some good people at the lake. You can be for sure that I will have a new battery in the truck before I leave out again. 6 years, not bad life for battery though.

Good fishing to you.
