Well my morning came early as the alarm was going off at 3:45 AM. I had not fallen asleep till around midnight, as I wasn't tired and was really anxious for the tournament. Most confident I have felt in a long time. Had to swing down to Middlebury and pick my partner up and we was on our way. We registered boat 54 so I wasn't thrilled about that but thats what happens when you don't send your entry in ahead of time. I passed two boats and caught the third before the first bridge. We cleared the bridge and I hammered down passing third boat, then passed two more before baugo bay. Passed the next just after county line and that was it for the morning run. I love how well my Nitro handles rough water! First spot was a smallie spot and in a couple cast I had our first keeper in the boat. Didn't stay there long as I noticed current was slow and wasn't getting anything more then dinks. I moved to next spot that held a mix bag of SM and LM. Partner hooks up with a big Smallie that would have been pushing 4#'s but out the water he came and lure went other way. I got the next 4 keepers all from the same general area. They came on senco, crankbait, and centipede. My big fish came on the centipede. All the LM were 14" or bigger. I was feeling great. But then thought if were doing this good how is everyone else doing? Told my partner we needed to get rid of that smallie and upgrade. He then put a 14"+ LM in the boat. Feeling a little better, we slowly worked our way back towards the launch hiting spot after spot, only to put dinks in the boat. We did catch some Walleye also but two of them went home with us for dinner. Around new the gates were open and water was flowing again. I debated to run up towards Elkhart and try for some big smallies, but gut said to fish for LM and hope for that big one. Well the fish we caught in the morning was all she wrote and we headed in a little early. We were one of the first to weigh in and had 9.21 with big fish of 3.2. So we got to try and sit there patiently as sack after sack got weighed. But sat there talking to Jack helped the time pass. In the end we finished 1st by .13#'s and won BB by .06#'s I belive.

I have to also thank Owensproducts for sponsoring me with a new towing rig to use.
