Dan was a slam scooper when we first started fishing together and I would adhere to what I learned while trolling Lake Mich. The constant movement of trolling is similar to netting a fish in current. We have finally evolved a net process for the river.
We always net from the downstream side and the net is always at least halfway submerged AFTER the fish is tiring, not before. When the fish has surfaced you can just let him back to the waiting net. We have never lost a net fish and have netted 3 out of the air that decided to jump at the last moment.

Rick Z....The river is cleaner in that 6 span area because Rick V cleaned all the redeyes out of there during his last visitimage. Seriously, that area is cleaner as most of the mud comes into the river below the Elkhart dam where the Little Elkhart enters.
