Brad drove into town and we drove over to Lake Erie for a smallmouth bass trip. Â We took my boat out so he didn't have to drag his along the way. Â Our day started a little later than usual, but 9 am fishing time wasn't bad. Â We put some serious miles on the water today checking out various spots along the way. Â The total trip log was 34.6 miles. Â The trip was made much more comfortable by the nice wave conditions.Â

The first stop produced some nice quality 4 plus pound fish. Â This one below was so kind in flicking a little water on the lens of the camera.

Brad and I hit a series of humps and caught fish off all of them. Â The numbers varied, and none seemed to be stacked enough to sit on it all day long. Â That was fine, because it gave us an opportunity to check out lots of different areas. Â There were some areas that produced bigger fish than others.

We fished water that had just a few inches of visibility to water that had visibility of about 9 to 10 feet. Â We caught bass on drop shot, tubes, crankbaits, swimbaits, darters, etc... Â The key was just to get it right in front of their face. Â The hits were pretty aggressive. Â We caught probably half dozen largemouth, dozen or so sheephead, and finished with 25 to 30 bass. Â I didn't use the counter today.
The good news was our best 5 went over 21 lbs..  The bad news of the day happened near the end.  My starter went out on my motor.  Luckily Brad was there with me, and I was able to get the cap off and hand pull start the motor to get back in.  We finished up just a little after 4 pm.  I have a new starter on order and hopefully will have it put it before the next trip time comes up.  Here's just one more photo.  We didn't take a lot of photos today.  Lots of boats out today and we didn't want to draw too much attention in.  There was enough of that is it was.
