After a short trip to Woodland lake in the morning, we ended up on Chemung Lake. The lake is characterized by shallow (1 to 2 foot flats) that dropped off to a deeper 20 to 25 foot shelf. Below is a quick map glimpse of the lake.

With any luck, we hoped to find some bedding smallmouth on the shallow 1 to 2 foot flats. Needless to say, we never saw a bedding bass all day long. The water temperature was running 54 to 56 degrees.  I had a nice hit on DT10 crankbait early on, but didn't hook up.  Shortly there after, the bill broke on the crankbait. I must have been banging the rocks too much with it. Fished several other crankbaits without a bite.
We worked the deep water with deep crankbaits, spinnerbaits, swimbait, tail spinners, silve buddies, shakey heads with plastic worms, and dragging a tube. Worked the flats with spinnerbaits, lipless crankbaits, shallow crankbaits, small plastic craws, wacky worm, finesse jig, and suspending jerkbait.  Fished darn near the entire lake without seeing more than a handful of bass that were small and roaming. We did manage to catch a few on the break. 3 came on spinnerbait, and 1 on a wacky worm. I was none too impressed with this lake. Doubt I will be back anytime soon. Without many docks being put in, there was really no cover or structure to fish. Baron flats that dropped off to nothing.   Below are a couple photos of some hard earned bites today.
