Good report! Sorry to hear that it is still slow. I spent the weekend on the
Portage River. I'm not looking forward to fishing Lake Logan this weekend.
I have to report that I did not get a chance to take any pics. I wished I
would of. Friday we spent the day fishing boat docks. It is very hard on
your arms and shoulders pitching for 8 hrs. but this is how you catch
those large mouths. I think I caught around a dozen or so nice fish
some dinks the biggest was around 3lbs. A lot of them where 2 + lbs.
It was very refreshing to catch some fish finally. My brother and dad
caught some also but not as many. Sat. was about the same. Sat.
night my brother and I had discussed going out in the morning before
we were to bowl at 11:30. (me, my dad and brother went to bowl in
a tourney and fish when we had the time) I had my brother check the
weather (on his phone) for Sunday morning. The wind had blowing 17
mph from the west and southwest Friday and Sat. To ruff to go out.
Well, he said it was supposed to be 7 mpg winds from the south. So
we decided to get up at 5:00 and try to go for some smallies. We
got to the boat ramp around 5:50(Cataba Is.) The water was calm. A lot of
anglers where headed out to catch some walleyes we where not. We
motored about 1 mile to the spot. It only took about 2 casts and I
landed the first fish, it was a large mouth about 3lbs. I made 2 more
casts and hooked into the largest smallie I have ever caught. I only
had about 4' of line out when it hit. I was feeding line out so I could
get some control. It jumped a couple of times next to the boat before
my brother could reach down to land it for me. It weighed 4lbs 15oz!
We caught a couple more around 2 or 3 lbs. We caught more large
mouth than smallies and a couple of big sheephead. It was awesome!
It was a very good weekend for all of us. Most of all I appreciated
the time that I got to spend w/my dad and brother! Sorry for not
taking any pics.
