It really isn't necessary for me to refer to any written log because the log is imprinted in my memory. Starting with Memorial Day weekend the fishing
gets a little tough for a while. And there hasn't been much to report lately.
Not to be whipped I decided to make a day of it. Be there for a early bite or find out if the ticket is a late bite. Find out if it is a deeper water bite or
find out if Largemouth can still be found shallow in water temps of 82 to 85. I know boat temps are warmer than air temps but at one point I took a glance at
my key chain thermometer I carry with me, and jeez, 100 and the air around here has been thick enough to cut with a knife.
Around 3oclock in the afternoon I gave in and took a break under some shade thinkin I'm getting to old for this $h*t. OK, I've tried the shallow stuff,
I've tried the deep water cranking, I've tried different places to fish, I've tried the dam thingy. I've tried the boat ramp thingy, I've
tried bout every frickin thing and have two fish to show for it. OK, take that Colo. blade off and put a big willow on. Tie on a crankbait that you never
throw. Even narrow it down to that Hoodaddy. Chunk the Crave ones and dig out one of the old juicy Garlic ones that I have been carrying around so long and are
slimy. That old plastic has a bit more action.
OK, first fish this year on my knew Falcon Herm Special spinnerbait rod. I'm ecstatic!
It is still slow, change lakes, this one is a dud. (This thought was in the back of my mind from the git-go if the fishing was dead at the first choice of the
day.) With a lighting storm brewing, I could tell because what air was left was being sucked right out of my lungs and the lake went flat. Not a wisp of a
breeze I pitched a tube, and not exsaturating, while thinking about changing lakes and,,,,,,,,
THUMP!
From that point on I lost count of the fish, I'm serious. I caught quality on tubes, spinnerbaits, jig's, hoodaddy's.
Sometime after the Catfish are through doing their thing. The Largemouth bite seems to pick up again.
It's in the log.
Good fishing guys!
