Fished Lake Laura in Shenandoah County VA during family vacation. Fished 3 times during the week. Water was pretty clear, temp around 72. Max depth was
30'. Lots of laydowns but no pads or grass above the water. Saw a lot of Bluegill beds. Hot and a lot of sun on the first day. I caught 2 smaller bass in
about 4 hours. Got them on a 3" Storm bluegill swimbait. Took my youngest son out around 7AM the second day out after a cold front came through, caught
one gill in 5 hours. He wasn't too happy with me getting him up that early for one fish! The third day out with 3 in my small boat fishing, and my oldest
son in a kayak I had some luck. I dropped the rest of the crew off at around 11:00 to get lunch and bring it back. I was out by myself with the kayak in tow. I
ended up with 10 fish, the last one my personal best largie! My wife dropped off some food at around 12:30 and I stayed out by myself until 5:00 when the rain
and cold front came through. Caught everything on a Pop'r and a suspending minnow you can see in the pictures. First time I used either of these baits, had
a ball. Found a large hump 12' deep in the middle of the lake where I caught most of them. Caught a few in the shallows. About 3 hit the bait right after
it hit the water. The last 2 are the same bass. That's 12" long shoe by the way
. There were 2 the same size that followed it up to the boat but I couldn't
catch them!
