Went out there for a few hour this morning. Got there around 8:30 and starting fishing a Sebile Koolie Minnow that I just got on sale. It dove it a bit too
deep for the shallow weedline, so I switched to a Bandit 100 and fished with that for a while. After fishing I while, I got a small fish, less than 10" on
the crank, about 2ft from shore.
I decided to change up to the T-rigged YUM Dinger. I tried the watermelon candy without any luck, then the junebug with a couple hits. I wanted to try out my new Plfueger Supreme spinning reel and Yo-Zuri Hybrid UltraSoft line, so I tied on a Rapala X-Rap Shad Shallow and fished it a bit before tying on a smaller 4" Dinger.
After half a dozen casts with the weightless plastic, I got a knot in the line
... I got it out and kept fishing. Two casts later, another knot in the Yo-Zuri... This time I cut it off instead of messing with the knot. I've
learned not to give up early though, so I'm gonna keep using it and see if iit improves. Well, down sizing didn't work, so I decided to upsize. I
swtiched back to my baitcaster and to the only 6" Dinger I had, watermelon red flake. Within a couple of casts I had a nice one on. He cleared the water
and threw the hook. Looked to be 3 to 3-1/2 lbs compared to the one my dad caught the other day that was 2-1/2.
I kep fishing and got another decent one. Around 17" and chunkier than most I've caught lately. After a while more, I hooked another average sized fish. Right before I was about to leave, I hung another small one, about 11" Not bad, hoping to go back tonight, maybe with my dad. I'll get pictures on later of the two biggest ones.
