I hooked up the boat and we got underway. we would be using the secondary boat ramp again. I wasn't looking forward to it as it is still a precarious experience using it. They fixed it with number 4 gravel and its hard on tires. Its also easier to fall of the side of the ramp and get your trailer lodged. Thankfully we haven't had that problem yet.
After our usual socializing, we hit the boats. Beth and I took off at "Blast Off " and hit our favorite bank. It was starting to look like a beautiful day to be on the water. The water was still with no wind blowing, making boat handling a cinch. Beth was able to use her Senko's both T-Rigged and Wacky style, weightless.
We hadn't been on our bank very long when I had a strike on a Berkley Power Worm . I don't know if the fish had the bait all the way from the bank or if it hit at the boat. It was just there and I set the hook. Apparently the little 14 incher had the bait for awhile as he had swallowed the hook. Unfortunately , Beths surgery skills were lacking and the fish died before we could get it in the live well. It was bleeding badly when we got it into the boat. Well One fish even dead was better than no fish at all.
We continued to hammer the bank until 9 AM. One more 11 incher liked my power worms and we set him free. Beth caught numerous Rock Bass and Gills but no Bass. It was time to go so we loaded up and went to the parking lot.
We held Weigh in at the Shelter House above the beach. No one was using it for a picnic or anything else. Nick Kelly was first to weigh in with one fish at 1.90 Pounds. Sam and Mike (Spoonplugger) Skinner also weighed in one at 1.28 pounds. Ron Butler had 3 fish that tipped the scales at 4.28 Pounds. Wilbur Moore and Darren Posten had 2 fish at 3.32 Pounds. Geno (Geno100) and Katrina Seegur had one that went 1.28 pounds. Zack Crabbe had one fish that weighed .086 Pounds. John and Carol Bircher had a 17 incher that weighed 2.40 Pounds their total for a 3 fish bag weighed 5.56 Pounds. It was really nice to be able to sit in the Shade of the Shelter House and not have to stand out in the sun on the asphalt Parking Lot. Beth took the pictures and I took the notes.
Big Bass was won by Carol Bircher
First place was won by John and Carol Bircher
Second place was won by Ron Butler
It had been a gorgeous day to be on the water. 24 of us enjoyed the outing even though only 11 fish were weighed in. Hopefully our new ramp will be completed by next week and we can get back to our normal routine. Beth and I are going to put new bunks on our trailer tomorrow morning and then head to Reynoldsburg and "Gander Mountain" to spend my Fathers day gift card. So that's why this is a rather hurried up report posted on a Saturday evening. Have a great week everyone....Jim and Beth
