My son and I went to Rushcreek Lake this morning and beat up the banks for three solid hours with only one fish caught. Then, right after catching the first
fish on my homemade spinnerbait, my trolling motor connection went bad and we almost left at around 8:30 A.M. and headed for home. Man am I glad we
didn't.
We anchored up on an off shore drop/ledge and commenced to hammering 'em. We caught a total of 23-bass that averaged around 12-inches or more. We only caught two over 15-inches. But it was still a lot of fun. We had two doubles this morning. And at one time I caught three bass on consecutive cast. If you were more than 10-feet away from the sweet spot with your cast, you wouldn't catch a fish. The active school was in about a 10'X10' area. As long as our cranks were banging on the bottom and riding the drop tight to the bottom we would get a bite. As a matter of fact, my son was even doing the 'ole kneel and reel technique.
And again, for the second time in a week, and a second lake in a week, the crankbait was king for the day.
