Woodland Lake (MI) 06-28-09
Jim and I did a quick night fishing trip to Woodland lake in Michigan. Water surface temperature was running 81 to 82 degrees. Winds were steady, but manageable for fishing.
We started off working some weed line breaks and flats. Our very first cast produced a nice 14 inch bass. You know what they say "you don't ever want to catch on on your first cast, because it's bad luck". Today, that wasn't the case. During our short time there we pounded numerous bass. Some came on a spinnerbait, others on homemade topwaters. Plus we also caught one on a Jitterbug (Tribute to Marty). We didn't catch any lunkers, but given more time that might not have been the case. We did have some huge blow ups that didn't hook up. I had three on a 9 inch swimbait, but the hooks didn't get in the fish. Below is a photo of one of those typical fish from our night trip.
