The wind was suppossed to be around 10 - 12 mph today, I don't think it made 8 miles an hour. He caught that one on long and after a short while I put a short one in the boat on a blade bait. First blade fish of the Fall. We made our way to Coverdale around noon. The wind was blowing a little bit better now, but still not enough to give them much cover to start roaming around. Caught a few more short fish on jerkbait and spinnerbait. Then we were down at the South end of the lake with very little wind and I get a "thump" on the blade bait, set the hook and boated a 1 lb. 14 oz. largie. Our second keeper.
What was cool was, when this one was being reeled in another bass was chasing it trying to get the blade bait from it all the way to the boat. It looked to be about a 2 lb. fish. It was pretty neat to watch it with the polerizers on. A little while later I put our 3rd keeper in the boat on a spinnerbait. It's weight was 1 lb. 10 oz. Here are 2 of the 3 keepers.
So not as bad as I was expecting. I was pleased. Water temp was 50 degrees when we launched and 54 degrees was as warm as it got. Caught fish anywhere from 4' to 15' of water. Caught 7 bass today, 3 being of legal size. Our 3 fish weighed 5 lbs. 4 oz.
