I was wondering if anyone else on this board uses Falcon rods? I have owned Falcon rods for some 10 years, and I can't say I am at all satisfied with them. Now you might ask, how come I keep buying them. I don't really keep buying them, it's just that you get stuck in a situation that isn't the best when it comes to warranties on them. Over the last ten years, I have had at least 8 rods replaced from Falcon. The first one I purchased was a Falcon original series. It was a 6'6" med action. It is still being used fine. I also have a nice 7' spinning rod original series that makes a fine wacky worm rod. Now I get to the next series the Falcon Lowrider series. I have had 5 baitcasting rods (7' heavy action carolina rig rods) that had to be sent back because the reel seats on them failed. They didn't have enough threads on the seat to hold my reels without popping off when I set the hook. I called the warranty section at Falcon, and was informed after much prodding by the service manager that that has been an issue. I was told to put a piece of plastic in the reel seat to take up the space. Wrong. I bought a $100 plus rod to work right not to make homemade adjustments. I was asked what reel I used. I told him 90% of my reels were Quantum energy PT reels. Then I was told that that was one of the reels they were having problems with. Wow, one of the biggest sellers in reels in the world, and they couldn't accomodate them. I had to send each one back at my shipping cost ($20), and send them $20 to send me a new one back. I have had 2 rods where the glue has broken it's seat from the handle and the blank. Yesterday I set the hook while flipping, and the rod shattered into 3 pieces. All of these rods were less than one year old. Lucky for me I was able to pull the 4.5 lb. fish thru the pads and into the boat by hand. What should a guy do. I want to talk to someone other than the service manager, because he knows my unhappy voice when I call. Anyone know who to call? My suggestion......don't ever buy a Falcon Lowrider, unless you want to pay for that rod the rest of your life.
