I haven't gotten to do much fishing lately, but my last couple times out I've been tinkering with a dropshot rig for bluegill. So far I have been impressed, as my buddy and I caught 62 keepers yesterday afternoon. The day started out very slowly, though. We began fishing in 13-17' of water and didn't find much, so we drifted across the lake until we found some fish right on the bottom in 8-9'. I had to shorten the leader on my sinker so that I could get my bait even closer to the bottom. Beemoths and Gulp were the hot ticket.

My set up is basically a perch rig... small bass casting sinker on the bottom, and 2 hooks above.

I tie the hooks on using a loop knot... it makes a 2” dropper.

I use short shank #8 hooks... I like a bit heavier hook. I use a UL rod and 4 lb mono, so I want a solid hook that won’t flex.
