Our club fished a tournament Saturday at the Waldron Chain. As I was told, the fishing was very tough. The weeds were not very good, like I had hoped. We had 6 boats, and 5 fish. Hard to say the least. I expected it to be hard, but not that bad. 1st place had 2 fish that weighed 4.2 lbs., 2nd had 2 fish that weighed 3.5 lbs., and third had 1 that went 2 lbs. I ended up with my first blank of the year, but I guess it happens. I caught one short on a worm on Waldron, and 3 shorts under docks on Tamarac. I couldn't get anything going. I spent a majority of the day frogging, as I got a lot of nice hits, but not one of them to take the frog. I had enough hits to do well, if the fish would have wanted it. The winner caught his 2 on Waldron on a big worm. 2nd caught his on frogs, although I was surprised at how small the frog fish were. 3rd caught his on a worm on Waldron as well. Hoping the bite turns on again there soon. The water temps were in the mid 70's, with al lakes looking pretty stained. The water was a little low as well. Most of my frog bites came in the river where it turn to head into Waldron. If the fish would actually take the frog, this would be a good way to get some decent fish, just not last Saturday.
