Finally got a chance to get back out fishing so I was going to meet my buddy and try to catch some bass in deeper water. I got there at 5am and worked the point south of the launch hard with a couple black spinnerbaits and a popper with no luck. My buddy pulled in around 6 so I picked him up and decided to fish to the north from the launch. Right away I lost a small bass then caught the big bass of the day, 17 inches and 2lbs 3oz, took a picture of it in the dark. During that time my buddy caught his first, second and third on a chartruese spinnerbait. Worked west to the point at the mouth of the northern bay where we picked up a few more dinks and started working senkos deep. As I have started doing there, I threw one out, set the pole down, threw out a second senko, and sometimes tried casting a spinnerbait or jerkbait. We tried a few points and caught a few this way but nothing hot and heavy and nothing that was a keeper. I caught a few small ones on my jerkbait, jackall squadminnow, which was a replacement of my favorite for this lake I lost a month or two ago. I ordered the wrong color by accident, but it's close so I was trying to build my confidence back up in the lure. My buddy switched to a gray tube bait after a while and did land the only other keeper at 14.5 inches. I wrote down 14 bass for me and I think he had about 10 or 12. Lost a couple lures to pike as well. I was glad to catch one decent bass after the first hour being dead and the lake was glass all morning. Got a little busy out on this small lake too and a storm was coming in around 9:30 so I tried to beat the rush to load but there was no rush. Not sure why no one else was going in since most were small boats with only trolling motors on them. Oh well, nice to be out catching something.
